TULSA, OK: Veteran Teams Help Kick off Winter Season with Impressive Wins

Taking it to the hoop!

The Ultimate Hoops Winter Season in Tulsa began last Monday with a huge success. After taking a season off, Old School and The Wolfpack returned to the league and dominated the court. Both teams made a statement with blowout wins to kick their season off with.

The first game pitted The Tulsa Snipers versus the back to back champions from previous seasons in Old School. Old School had to shake off some rust early, but took control towards the end of the first half. They were led by a very balanced attack with all 5 of the starters scoring in double figures, with 3 players scoring over 20 points. Old School is known for their high powered offense, but it was the defense that made the difference in this game as they held the Snipers to only 32% from the field. Shawn Bennett and Brenden Steeves did their best to keep them in the game, but in the end it wasn’t enough as Old School won 100-64.

The second game marked the return of Summer Season runner up The Wolfpack versus last season champs The Money Team. Both teams were comprised of some veterans and newcomers to their teams. It took a while for the teams to get accustomed to the new players, but in the second half The Wolfpack took control and won convincingly 107-80. The team shot a crazy 78% from the field with every player scoring over 20 points to help secure the win. The Money Team was led by newcomer to the league Kristophur Wallace as he scored 23 points. The Money Team shot good from the field as well, but did not have enough defense to contain The Wolfpack.

The return of The Wolfpack and Old School has put the remaining teams on notice that they are back with a vengeance. It is still a long season though, so you know the other teams will have something to say and have plenty of time to get revenge and make statements of their own.
