WESTMINSTER, CO: Week 7 Preview | Are The Bad Boys contenders or pretenders?

We are down to the final week of the regular season in Ultimate Hoops Westminster. The number one seed is locked up, but who's going to jockey for position when the playoffs start next week?

White Iversons vs. The Tropics

White Iversons have quietly put together quite a strong season and will look to finish on a high note against a struggling Tropics team. The Tropics seem to have a different roster each week so its hard to tell what their team needs to do in order to get the win each week. White Iverson’s will be heavy favorites this week and will need to use this week to gain some confidence and momentum before heading into the playoffs. If The Tropics manage to pull an upset here, it could completely turn their season around. Look for a fast paced game with a lot of 3 pointers and fast breaks. Both teams play an up tempo style of basketball and this week should be no different.

The Bad Boys vs. Havoc

Here we have the tale of two opposite teams. Havoc has been improving each week yet still coming up short, while the Bad Boys started dominant and are digressing after some roster changes. The Bad Boys are still a good team with Reggie Jackson as the primary scoring threat, but are far less intimidating as they were to start the season. The Bad Boys will have a major size advantage this week and it will likely prove too much for Havoc to handle. Havoc will need to be shooting lights out from long range if they want to have a chance in this game.

Kardashians vs. Eat, Sleep, Ball, Repeat

In a matchup where both teams are battling for playoff position, this could be one of the more important games of the night. Both teams are sitting at 4-3 and this is a much needed one for either side. Look for the Kardashians to pound the ball inside while playing a half court type of basketball game, while ESBR will likely push the ball and look to get points in transition. Blake Mahler will need to have one of his better performances of the year if ESBR wants to get the win this week. The Kardashians should be the favorite, but don’t sleep
on ESBR.

The Gladiators vs. IMPACT Basketball

Up until this point, The Gladiators are one of the surprise teams this season. They have outplayed everyone’s expectations of them and in doing so are sitting above .500 at 4-3. IMPACT Basketball is clearly the leagues number one team but there has been instances where teams have shown, they indeed are beatable. The Gladiators will need to have the 3 ball going their way if they want to keep the game close down the stretch. IMPACT will score their points regardless, so it’s crucial to match them bucket for bucket. An upset here could be a top 10 upset of all time, but it is still less than likely.

FireSquad vs. Purple Cobras

FireSquad likes to get out and push the tempo while Purple Cobras tend to play better in a half court setting. FireSquad has been playing together for a couple seasons and their experience playing together could prove to be the key factor in wining this week. Purple Cobras struggled all year and getting all their players to show up seemed to be one of the hardest things for this team to deal with. FireSquad will be the favorite this week, but The Purple Cobras could make the game competitive if they are on their A game.

IMPACT Basketball vs. The Bad Boys

Finally, the game that everyone has wanted to see since week 1. The preseason top 2 teams are finally heading off in a game that will show just who is the real powerhouse in the Ultimate Hoops league. The Bad Boys will likely come up with a scheme that will try to turn the tide into their favor, while IMPACT will just play the same way they have all year. Reggie Jackson and Matt Lloyd have the size advantage inside and this advantage is what The Bad Boys will have to exploit. IMPACT moves the ball well and any of their players could easily end up being the X Factor in what we expect to be a close game. Fatigue will play a factor, with this being each team’s second game of the night, so look for that as the game wears on. This is one exciting game that everyone has been waiting for all year.
