WESTMINSTER, CO: Week 5 Preview | Time to put up or shut up

White Iversons and The Kardashians look to maintain their winning ways

The final push towards the playoffs begin on Tuesday. IMPACT Basketball has been dominant all season and remains the only undefeated team in Westminster. Do The Kardashians have what it takes to pull off the monumental upset?

White Iversons vs. Havoc

White Iversons should feel pretty confident going into this game against Havoc. Havoc has struggled all year and unless they are hitting the three ball, it is very tough for them to score enough points to win. White Iversons are going to push the pace and pressure Havoc, so it will be on Havoc to keep their composure and play their style of basketball if they want to have a chance this week. Havoc is one or two players away from really being competitive so don’t expect much from this first game.

The Gladiators vs. The Tropics

This game has much the same game notes as the first game we just mentioned. The Gladiators will be heavy favorites and unless the Tropics flipped a switch coming into this week, then this shouldn’t be much of a game. The Tropics are better than their record indicates but are lacking the confidence needed to really be successful in this league. If the Tropics can figure out a way to win this game, it could be a season changing win. With the addition last week of Jay Dinkel, The Tropics are certainly playing better basketball, and now only need their chemistry to improve. The Gladiators want this win to continue their early success and would love etching another win in the win column come time for playoff seeding.

The Kardashians vs. IMPACT Basketball

The number one team squares off against the number four team in this mid-season matchup. Beau Barney has his team playing some of their best basketball as a team in years while the Kardashians are pulling out key victories every other week it seems. The Kardashians will need to really step up on defense to stop IMPACT, and if they can do that, the game is winnable as they have plenty the tools on offense. Carlos Matos is the player that keeps IMPACT basketball in control and dictates the show and pace of the game. The Kardashians will need to disrupt him and force other players to try and make plays. Assuming both teams are playing to their full potential, this game could prove to be a very fun game to watch.

The Bad Boys vs. FireSquad

Ahhh, finally the game that has been circled on both teams calendars. There is no love lost between these two teams and they make that very open to each other. I expect a few technical fouls to be assessed this night and some rough play is sure to ensue. The Bad Boys are on fire as of late and are making a push to be considered one of the favorites to win it all this year. FireSquad is struggling compared to their last season success and a win here could really turn their season around. The Bad Boys are the biggest team in the league and rebounding has been a strong suit thus far. Its hard to match up with all that size and it will take a total team effort on the glass to contest with the bigs of the Bad Boys. Fire Squad will need to win the game from deep if they want to win this week. Alfredo Garcia is the best shooter for FireSquad and he will need to be on his A game if his team wants the W. This is one game you won’t want to miss.

Purple Cobras vs. Eat Sleep Ball Repeat

ESBR has been up and down this season and will need this win if they want to stay competitive in the playoff race. Purple Cobras are winless on the year and although they have had some close games, they haven’t been able to pull off a victory. ESBR is the favorite for this game but they are very beatable. Purple Cobras will need to play their best basketball of the year but this team has the offensive weapons to get hot and make a game of this. ESBR is one hot hand away from a double digit victory as this team has the weapons on offense to really take control of games.

Havoc vs. The Tropics

In the dreaded double header of the night, two evenly matched teams will get the matchup. The Tropics have the worst record of the two teams so far but this game is a pretty evenly matched game. As with any double header game, fatigue and conditioning will play a huge factor and could greatly impact which team comes out with the victory. On paper, Havoc is the team ahead in the standings, but I see the Tropics being able to pull this win out.
