MONTVALE, NJ: The Playoffs Are Here, And So Are...The Ferrall Ballerz?
Will Old School be holding up another banner in a few weeks?
It took until the very last game of the regular season, but the playoffs are finally set. Your four teams: Young Gelt Militia, Old School, RUNt and… the Ferrall Ballerz??
What in the wide world of sports is going on? Two weeks ago, the 2-4 Ferrall Ballerz were all but dead. They were in a downward spiral, having lost three in a row. They had to win their last two, including one vs. an imposing YGM. (The first victory was literally handed to them in the form of a forfeit.) After that, they needed a winless squad, Team Randy, to get their first “W” in the final week to take out a competitor, Team Justin, for the fourth and final seed. Somehow, it all happened.
The Ballerz took down the Young Gelt Militia Friday night with both squads playing shorthanded. Perhaps YGM was just toying with their opponent? Thanks to their loss, the two will now meet in the playoffs. As crazy as it sounds…Should they be careful what they wished for?
Scott Ferrall is on an absolute tear. After a season high of 14, dude drops 70 points in two games. Perry Mann just went for 15 after failing to total that many in the past four combined games. It would be huge if he can get healthy after dealing with foot issues the entire season. Could we suddenly have a more interesting postseason game than an Old School-RUNt rematch?
With the final four set, we can’t just ignore the defending champs. The only reason a YGM-Ballerz rematch might be more compelling is because Old School has already rolled over RUNt twice, giving up just 60 total points in the process. Still, Brett Merker and his club aren’t taking anyone lightly.
Perhaps we should have asked him if he fears the Ferrall Ballerz. Well, no. Old School already smoked them by 30, so let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet. After all this craziness, let’s just stick to logic. The prediction is still a “Young” vs. “Old” title game.
