MANSFIELD, TX: Week 8 Predictions | Another Team Up For #1 Seed?
It's been one heck of a roller coaster ride this season at Mansfield, and as the regular season gets ready to come to an end it looks like there may be one team that can actually snatch away the #1 seed from Heavy Hitters, who have held the spot all season long. BUT, it depends on how next week plays out. Let's check out the match ups.
7:15 - The Vets VS We Get Buckets
We Get Buckets' future was looking pretty grim during the first half of the season as they lacked any type of point guard, and struggled to even get the ball passed half court, but with the addition of guards Christian Aquino and Ryan Allen the team has turned their season around as they look to break even at 4-4 against The Vets, but the latter just may have too many weapons for them, inside and out. Donnie McDade intimidates with his size alone, and has now even become a threat from downtown, knocking down 7 of 15 so far this season. Prediction: The Vets by 15.
8:15 - Lunch Ballers VS The Agents
The last time these two met, we saw an upset with The Agents squeezing by Lunch Ballers 70-75. The Agents are a strong team despite the record, not losing a single game this season by double digits, and prolific scorer Desmond Brown hasn't had 1 game under 25 points (leading scorer in the league at 31.6 ppg). I think this one will go down to the wire, but if Lunch Ballers continue to utilize their big man Laurence Daggett like they have been and take advantage of their team's passing ability, they may be actually squeezing by with this one. Prediction: Lunch Ballers by 7.
9:15 - Hoop Squad VS Heavy Hitters
If they have all of their players, Hoop Squad definitely has a chance. They've been struggling with all of their players showing up all season, and it's hindered them when it comes to overall stamina. In other words, they seem to just run out of gas mid-game. Julian Johnson will have to appear in this game physically and mentally because he is the top scorer on the team, and he and Leonard Frank scored 75% of the team's overall points last week (69 out of 92). Heavy Hitters are young, fit and dangerous, and run the floor better than any team in the league, getting many of their points off fast breaks. They're number 1 for a reason. Prediction: Heavy Hitters by 10.
If Lunch Ballers win against The Agents and Heavy Hitters lose to Hoop Squad they will both end the season at 6-2, but a Lunch Ballers win will put them at 4 wins in a row, which I believe will actually propel them to number 1. I guess we shall see what happens next week folks, stay tuned!
