AJAX, ON: Canada Launches first Ultimate Hoops session l Week 1 Recap

Ultimate Hoops launched their first League in Toronto, Canada January 19th and it was a great success. In the beginning UH Toronto had 6 teams, then had to increase to 8 teams because of the demand and we now have a overflow waiting for the next season to start. The schedule of Week 1 was the following...

Game 1 - 7pm - Monstars vs The Rainmen
Game 2 - 8pm - The Storm vs Spartans
Game 3 - 9pm - The 6ix vs The North
Game 4 - 10pm - The Moose vs The Jax

Game 1
The 1st game of the UH Toronto Winter League started off really one sided. The Monstars came out to play early and gave a lot of problems to the Rainmen.  photo 44eba2b5-119c-432d-bbcf-06767ce1a4e7_zpsnydk7iqh.jpg Sharpshooter #5 Bejun Dela Cruz started off the game hot with 5 threes in the first half, while also playing good defense and facilitating his team. The Rainmen had a real intense halftime huddle and decided to bring it the 2nd half. #21 Peter Okalebo Started to light it up scoring 15 of his total 24 in the second half with the help of their Point Guard #1 Brian James who was out for a while in the first half due to an injury. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to catch up to the Monstars who won 68 - 58. Dela Cruz finished with 31 points, 6 Rebounds and 2 assists.

Game 2
After a very heated last game the gym started to get packed and loud for the next game. The Storm and The Spartans were neck and neck the whole game trading leads in the first half. A definite difference was Troy Tingling acting as a player coach giving his team motivation and guidance in this game. #32 Tyrell Atkins gave the  photo 327a44bc-8adf-49b0-a238-d25d71f431b0_zpsmxmiyil5.jpg Storm a run for their money. Tyrell finished with 22 points and was really lighting it up from behind the arc with the help of his teammate #11 King David Amoako who finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.The X Factor of this game though was #13 Dominick Philippe who really fought hard and finished up with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists leading his team to Victory over the Spartans in a 52 - 40 win.



Game 3
Game 3 was the most intense game of the night. The Six and The North brought this game down to the wire taking it through two overtimes. The Six had our current rebound leader #43 Jeron Kerr who was a monster inside grabbing rebounds, getting put  photo cc72807b-071e-4b2b-bba5-5193a3badad4_zpsk7susler.jpgbacks and setting solid screens for his team. He ended up with 14 points and 16 rebounds a great performance. His teammate #23 Anthony Irisapaen also had a great game keeping his team in it dropping 21 points. The North h the experience and poise with their two veteran guards #33 Garth Newby and #27 Stevie Young, who controlled the game and made great decisions throughout the game. The Player of the game from was #4 Rajendra Singh from The North who finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds. The North Defeated the The Six 51 - 48.

Game 4
By this time of night there was a lot of anticipation to watch the final game The Jax vs The Moose. This was mostly a defensive game for the first half with the score being only 14 - 12 for The Moose. This was a very emotional game with guys talking playing aggressive and with pride. Things started to really heat up in the second half. #37 Ted Falcon and #26 Anthony Allison provided most of the stats for The Jax team. Ted  photo dd25be8b-2d95-4432-9194-6c21aba51141_zpsbrvlsot8.jpgFalcon had 12 points with a couple of steals and Anthony Allison who finished with 10 rebounds, 6 point and some blocks. The biggest contributor of this game was from The Moose, #44 Justin Wiltshire, who is our current highest performer of the league overall. He finished this game with 18 points, 15 rebounds and 3 steals. He brought a lot of energy and pride to his team in this one. Him with the facilitation of #19 Adam Ali, that moved the ball and got lots of assists, really sealed the deal for this game. The Moose won the game 41 - 31.
