ATLANTA, GA: Player Scouting Report Week 2 | All-Star or All-Naw
Frankie Ghouchani is he an All-Star?
In this week article of All-Star or All-Naw we look at a particular player of the week and critique there game on the court. This will call out players who may think they are Steph Curry but play like Dr. Drain. If you don’t know who Dr. Drain is, look him up on YouTube. This will be a reality check for some as well as hurt some feelings. If you disagree with the scouting report then this should be motivation to work on your game.
Frankie Ghouchani who is better known as, “Mr. Championship drought” has been playing the game for quite sometime and has a high basketball IQ. The lefty sharp shooter is shooting a career 48% from the arch and can knock down the shot from anywhere on the court. If you do not get a hand out like Mark Jackson always says, “ hand down, man down.” Ghouchani works better off of a screen and forces the defender to either show high or if they show low, he will pull up for the jumper. He is dominate left handed and certainly prefers to go to his left. He can go right but only 20-30% of the time. When defending him I would press up on him as he does not like physical contact. He can handle the rock well but not so much to the point of blowing bye you. You have to force him to be a passer and create for others as he is deadly from the offensive standpoint. I like this guy game he knows how to control the floor and certainly has a passion for the game.
Now lets get into were it counts, Ghouchani is a suspect on defense and cannot move laterally. If he is facing a quicker guard he will have trouble guarding him for the entire game. With his smaller frame if he is facing a larger guard he can easily become a liability in the post. Due to his injuries in the past which he is known to be injury prone, this has caused him to not move as quickly. As Ghouchani has gotten older and away from his proper training from Sorosh Golchin he has to take care of his body which he is sometimes stubborn to do.
When it comes to mental games, Ghouchani is the top of his class. He will talk trash with the best of them and cause other players to think twice about there game. He never shy away from the spot light and thrives in key moments. When it comes to championships Ghouchani has 4 titles all with his former team Enough Said. When he left something good and did a Lebron James on his former team, he has not been back to the promise land. The question remains can Frankie win a championship without his former teammates in Enough Said. Only time will tell.
Scouting Report: All-Star 85.5%, All-Naw 14.5%
