DALLAS, TX: Week 1 Recap | Near upset caps off opening night in DAC
Rapper Drake once said, "What a time, to be alive", boy was that true at Dallas Athletic last night. The season truly shot off with a bang with a near upset for the ages. The other two games proved to be routine wins for traditionally superior teams.
The first contest finished with a score that was no surprise as Backyard All-Stars handled The Shockers 88-53. Nick Scrivens, with 9 assists, was handling the ball and dishing out dimes like he was dropping change off the Empire State Building. Wade Havins was huge off the bench leading the team in scoring with 25. Martin Stewart was the only bright spot for The Shockers with 23 points.
The second matchup was by far the best game of the night. In a surprise upset attempt an undermanned Downtown Hooperz squad was leading Scoregasms at the half by double digits. John Howard and Justin Mozlry both led the Hooperz with 20 plus in the game. Scoregasms fought back and took control of the game narrowly missing out on an early season upset. Anson Bartlett was a major factor as he led the Scoregasms with 31 points on 59% shooting.
The final game of the night squared a newcomer to DAC,"3 Drink Max", against the Dallas Dimes. This game was not even close from the tip as the Dallas Dimes incredible shooting and deep team were just too much for the newcomers. Travis Allison led the shooting attack with 7 makes from downtown.
This season is looking to be one where only the strong will survive! Next week will surely have even more drama.
