FRIDLEY: Greenhorns defeat Redemption to top magical regular season, finish 8-0 | Waiting on Plymouth
Fridley MVP candidate Lawrence Barnes was green with pride Thursday night
Fridley, MN- If the NBA's Dallas Mavericks had the best week in the basketball this week, Fridley's Greenhorns are a close second.
The Greenhorns capped off a magical regular season by defeating short-handed Redemption 83-67 to finish a perfect 8-0, tied with the 5-time champion Celtics for the best regular season record.
MVP candidate Lawrence Barnes had 20 points for the Greenhorns in the win Thursday but his 9-of-20 shooting resulted in just a 5.0 PPR for the game. Forward Jeff Hoelscher was more efficient, finishing with a 22.5 PPR [ 20 points, 10 rebounds, 9-of-12 from the field].
You can expect Greenhorns players and fans to be hitting refresh all day for Week 8 Recreational Division Power Rankings to be released to see if the Greenhorns moved into the top spot. Power Rankings is usually an indicator of where a team could be potentially seeded for the post-season playoff tourney.
The Greenhorn and other playoff tournament hopefuls will enjoy a nice break until the Plymouth Recreational Division concludes on June 26th. Tournament seedings are expected to be announced on Monday, June 27th. An official announcement from the Minnesota Players Committee is expected in the coming days.
