Week 7 Power Rankings
1. SPLASH BROTHERS (5-1, LW 3) – They have assembled an amazing group of talent. To say that Nick Tomsick is hungry for a championship is an understatement. This past week was a good way to start thing off and another strong week next week should get them prime and be the hands on favorite to bring the championship back to Scottsdale. The only problem they’ll have is finding all the minutes for their players. Watching both Darrin Dorsey and Nick Tomsick in the backcourt is must see TV. Next week’s matchup versus BALL SO HARD is going to be a matchup that will have huge implications on the tournament seeding.
2. 20 OR BETTER (5-1, LW 1) – They fall short for the first time this season last week, but in the end I think this loss may benefit them. They came in as the hot name in the league and lived up their billing, but knowing that the competition is ready for them should be an eye opener and have them ready to go come tournament time. All they can do now is sit back, handle their business and wait to see where they end up once the season ends.
3. BALL SO HARD (6-1, LW 2) – They win like they always do so there is no surprise there but they will have a big test on their hands come Week 8. How tough is this league? Win and they have the potential to hold the overall number one seed, lose and they could potentially be at the back half of the top 10 come tournament time. Just let that soak in for a minute….the 2015 National Tournament Champions might not even end up being the best team in Scottsdale.
4. XOVER (5-2, LW 4) – They are quietly putting together one dangerous team. They aren’t getting the headlines like they used to but don’t be fooled…they will be one the best teams going in the tournament. They have had enough time to let some of the new faces gel together and they now seem like they’ve been playing together for years. I wouldn’t sleep on this team…
5. TWISTED STEEL WITH SEX APPEAL (4-3, LW 5) – Got a lucky break when they played an undermanned team but they did their thing and got into an early groove and never looked back. They’ve got the offensive punch to hang with anybody, but the issue all season has been their rotation and their defense. If they’ve somehow figured it all out; they should be ready to go and beat the teams they are supposed to and go deep in the tournament.
6. LOCKDOWN (2-5, LW 6) – Like with most teams in this league, having all their players show up week in and week out is going to be a tough proposition. This past week was no exception. However this is still no excuse for the loss (and their overall record). They should have a good matchup this last week and it will be a good measuring stick for them.
7. TIMELIFERS (2-5, LW 7) – This last week was an ugly loss for this group. Their shots weren’t falling and their defense was lacking severely. It wasn’t like it wasn’t expected; they will struggle with bigger and more athletic teams. They will look to end the regular season on a high note, but its going to be a tough matchup once again for them.
8. WE DEM BOYZ (3-4, LW 9) – Last week was a big win for them, but all season they’ve been up and down. One week, they look like a top 5 team, then the next, bottom 5. This team is so unpredictable - as soon as I am down on them, they show up and put up the numbers we all expect. We’ll see if having them this low will motivate them. It will be good for them to end the season on a high note and go into the tournament with some sort of momentum.
9. SUPERSONICS (1-6, LW 8) – They hung pretty close all game, but the outcome ended with another loss for this team. Unfortunately they have another tough matchup this week. This season has not been kind to this group and they all must be looking forward to the end of the season. Good news is in the tournament, each team starts off with a fresh record; bad news is that they’ll probably have a low seed and will have a tough climb up to the top.
10. MIGHTY MORPHIN FLOWER ARRANGERS (1-6, LW 10) – Not much to say about them other than see ya next year.
