MONTVALE, NJ: Who’s #1…And Who Needs a Hug?
We have reached the halfway mark of our spring session, and one team stands alone atop the standings. How does everyone stack up in our mid-season power rankings? Check it out.
The Ferrall Ballerz are #1…For real. After taking down Lane Train in a match-up of the league’s final two unbeaten squads, they are now 4-0. We were hoping for a competitive game…mainly because we didn’t know what the Ballerz would bring to the party. Well, as it turns out, they were the ones who won by double-digits.
Ferrall didn’t even give his own team a chance against the high schoolers. See what went down in his pre-game interview with Lane Train’s Thomas Harris, Nick Bigos and Justin Lane.
Without further ado, here are your official Week 4 Power Rankings:
1. Ferrall Ballerz (4-0) – Their schedule is about to get a lot tougher, but they did just beat the early frontrunners for the title. With defense as their new calling card, expect the Ballerz to be in every game from here on out.
2. Lane Train (3-1) – No flash from Thomas Harris this week. Still, not a big deal. The Lane Trainers can play with anyone. Just ask…
3. Old School (3-1) – They’ve played some quality games thus far, with Lane Train being their only slip-up. Should they be higher based on reputation? Not right now…but a win over the Ballerz next week would certainly help their case. That one will be a Ferrall and/or Brett Merker hissy fit waiting to happen.
4. RUNt (3-1) – Who would have thought they would be #4 at this point? Make no mistake, these guys aren’t a middle-of-the-pack team. It’s just that this season, there are more threats to beat them. As an aside, how about getting Gurbir Grewal some more touches in the paint? He could certainly come in handy down the stretch.
5. Just Ball (3-1) – Three routs of the three teams below them on this list, and a blowout defeat to Old School. If Chris Brundage and company can’t get easy buckets on leak-outs like they have against weaker teams, they might be in for a struggle.
6. USDA Prime (0-4) – The best of the worst? On one hand, USDA has lost every game by double-digits. On the other, they have shown flashes and been competitive at times vs. tough competition. Gotta look for the positives…
7. Bergen Tropics (0-4) – Oh, no. These guys appeared to be getting better a few seasons ago. Now? Alexis Drullinsky is killing it on the boards (12.7 per game) and killing his team with a field goal percentage not much higher (18%). There are no easy buckets for these guys. Even so, they should be able to beat…
8. Super Splash Brothers (0-4) – At least Pat Conway has come on to provide half the team’s scoring. So who wants to be the other Splash Brother? Who wants to show up for the games? Who wants the season to just be over already?
