GILBERT, AZ: Week 3 Power Rankings| Hungry Hoopers continue to feast

Set It Off has let team play lead them to a 3-0 start this season.

After another week of some great basketball lets take a look at the new league Power Rankings!

1. Donkey Punchin Kangeroos- Can anyone step in the ring with these heavy weights? The Donkey Punchin Kangeroos continue their streak of dominance this season with another win in week 3 over Splash City. Fred Dudley is a force to reckon with. Every time Splash City looked like they were going to get back into the game Dudley would hit another three, and another, and another. With six players averaging double digit points, four averaging over 20 ppg., it will be hard to slow this team down. Will their bad habit of allowing lower teams to hang around come back to haunt them later this season? Only time will time, but right now they are 3-0 and are convincingly the team to beat in the league.

2. Hungry Hoopers- The Hungry Hoopers are… well they are hungry! Every night this team comes out ready to play. After being down at half time against LT Bucks it looked as if the game would get away from them in week 3, but they locked in as a team and opened the second half with a 12-2 run and never looked back. This team has fantastic chemistry and has great poise at the guard position. Isaiah Bolton and Carter Ruston might be the best back court in the league this season. These little guards aren’t scared of anybody and both make big shots. Rushton is shooting a 54% clip from long ranger this season and both create plays for their teammates. Look for Hungry Hoopers to continue their winning ways if they can keep this chemistry flowing!

3. Set it Off- Big Men is the name of the game when we talk about Set It Off. Lavell Jones and Jason Harrison are two dominating forces down low. The rebound with tenacity and take advantage of their size on the post. Their presence cause every defense to have to help in the post which leaves Brandon Host and the other guards wide open to rain down the threes. Set if Off launched 27 threes against Hittin Trips in week three, scoring nearly one-third of their points from beyond the arch. Host is shooting %60 from three point range and hits more than four per game. The Inside out game is hard to stop and that is reflected in their 3-0 start to the season.

4. Game Over 2.0- After a week 1 loss to the top team in the league Game Over 2.0 is on a rampage! Winning their last two games by an average margin of twenty-one points! With Josh Hunter and Mike McCoy averaging 27ppg,, apiece there is allot of fire power on this team. Mike Rose does a great job of running this team fromt eh point guard position sacrificing his points for assists to his teammates. This team is young, talented, and ready to knock of one of the top dogs for their chance at the title! Look out for this team moving forward because if they get their opponent against the ropes it is GAME OVER.

5. LT Bucks- This team has a very talented guard play, but lacks the chemistry and defense needed to move up the rankings this season. After leading Hungry Hoopers at half time they let the game slip between their fingers in the second half. If they can pull it together defensively they could pull off the needed upsets to move up in the league, but if they are going to do this it needs to happen now, before it is too late!

6. Splash City- Threes are the name of the game for this team. They played very well against top ranked Donkey Punchin Kangaroos, but were never able to get over the hump. Several times they were able to get the game within two points, but each time they would give up consecutive threes on defense. This team can still turn things around as we approach the midway point this season, and I expect them to do just that!

7. Hittin Trips- Hittin Trips opening the season 0-3 might be just as big a shock as Hungry Hoopers being 3-0! They have the pieces. Size, shooting, and overall talent. But it seems like they lack chemistry on the offensive end. If this team moves the ball they are dangerous. Too many times one could see player take on personal battles with an opponent rather than keeping their team flow and making the right plays to win the game. If they want to finish this season over .500 then they have to make the change now, they are running out of time!

8. Gilbert Free Agents 1- It isn’t very often that a free agent team turns out like the Hungry Hoopers, but all isn’t lost for the Gilbert Free Agents 1 team. After a brutal beat down from Game Over 2.0 there are some bright spots. Travis Woodard is shooting well from outside and Alex Gorge is holding his own on the post, averaging a double-double. They need more help from the supporting cast to try and save this season.
