SUGARLOAF, GA: Week 1 Power Rankings | Who Will Challenge the Spartans this Spring?

Team USA's jerseys are just as loud as their play.

As we enter the second week of games at Sugarloaf, let's look back at week one and rank our teams from top to bottom. Team USA is looking extremely strong and ready to knock off the Spartans. Prime Time seems to be falling apart. Is this the beginning of the end for the former champions.

1. Team USA (1-0)

Duc Nguyen has put together a powerhouse of a team with Team USA. The team is loaded all across the board and looks like they will be the team to beat. They are lead by one of the league’s top players Codie Linton, and with Tion Watkins back in the league I do not see anyone knocking them off this year. They had 4 players in double digits their first week. There are rumors that they will be splitting into two separate teams starting in week 2. Hopefully this move will help balance out the playing time and help with their chemistry.

2. Spartans (1-0)

The champs looked solid in their return to play at Sugarloaf. The team is returning their entire roster from their championship run last season. They play together extremely well and know what it take to win at Sugarloaf. They may be a little undersized, but that didn’t stop them from going 8-2 last year in route to their first championship. They may be the champs of the league, but they are number 2 on paper so far.

3. Team Duke (1-0)

The story of Team Duke is a familiar one. The team that showed up week 1 to beat the Prime Time Playazz is the team everyone expects to take home the crown at Sugarloaf. The only thing holding back Team Duke is consistency. Marquis Babb continues to be the only player that shows up night in and night out. They have added some new addition that should help solidify their rotation, but they have some roster issues that may cause them to lose some of their nucleus. After week 2 we shall see what is left of Team Duke, before we can give them a fair analysis.

4. Prime Time Playazz (0-1)

Prime Time got off to a slow start in week 1. They are coming off 2 losses in a row now dating back to last season, and they continue to look short staffed every night. If they can get their whole team to consistently show up they may be able to work out some of the chemistry issues. The league is too competitive to not bring you A team, but Prime Time is by far the best 1 loss team out there.

5. Free Agents (0-1)

The Free Agents have some solid talent this year. They will get used to playing together as the season goes on and I expect to see some upsets from this squad. They have a solid backcourt of Marcus Ross and Troy Smith. The question is can they get any help from all the newcomers.

6. Young All Stars (0-1)

This team has a lot to prove and didn’t show much opening week. I’m not exactly sure how this roster will pan out this season so it’s hard to judge them by anything other than their 20-point loss to Team USA. Head coach Prime will have to find some better talent soon before it ‘s too late for the Young All Stars. The only bright spot for this team was the play of Rawlings Okine who dropped 31 points on opening night.

Look for the Week 2 preview article to come out next Monday!
