SCOTTSDALE, AZ: Week 3 Power Rankings | It’s Getting Ugly at the Bottom

Stuart Welch is putting up monster numbers this season but his FA team has hit rock bottom in the standings.

When I watch games this year, I can see that there is a true line of demarcation between the good teams and the bad ones. I don’t think that it’s because it's a lack talent per se, it’s just that the top tier teams are just that talented. It was an arms race among Nick, Bret, and Tristan and they made it their mission to stack their teams and make that push for a championship.

Week 3 Power Rankings

1. SPLASH BROTHERS (3-0, LW 1) – Another impressive win against an undermanned team but a win is a win and the troubles of other’s are not their concern. They come in every week with a mindset that they will blow out every team. That confidence is what sets them apart and they all seem to just know what they need to do to handle their business.

2. JAMAICAN HOPSCOTCH MAFIA (2-1, LW 3) – I sound like a broken record here but once again everyone put up some impressive scores across the board. They are looking a lot more comfortable playing together and are putting up a ridiculous 111.3 ppg. If they can tighten up their rotation, they shouldn’t lose another regular season game this year.

3. WE DEM BOYZ (3-0, LW 4) – This team is moving up the rankings because of their strong play week in and week out. They seem to be under the radar a bit but this team has all the pieces to give teams fits every week. The more I watch the more I like what I see. The confidence is there and they are starting to believe they can beat anyone.

4. TIMELIFERS (2-1, LW 2) – They had one of their few games where they just seemed out of sync and as a result, their shots just weren’t falling. They usually do a good job keeping teams on their heels, but they seem to be pressing a bit and forced some bad shots themselves last week. I’m going to chalk this past week up to a bad day. However, next week is going to be an early test of their mettle as they go against the long and athletic JAMAICAN MAFIA.

5. TWISTED STEEL WITH SEX APPEAL (0-3, LW 6) – They are winless on the season and I still put them 5th? Why? It’s because even without all their players there for all the games, they have still competed well and been in most of their games with the players that do show up. They should have all their players in the next coming weeks so I really do think they are this close from making noise. This is bold prediction and I may be way off but I really do like what I see and optimistic it will all work out for them.

6. XOVER (1-2, LW 7) – They get a much needed win last week and that should help to boost their morale. They were able to shoot much better and their defense stymied their opposition last week. They will always play hard and this game will help propel this to a few more wins this season.

7. SUPERSONICS (1-2, LW 5) – This team is starting to fall apart at the seams. They’ve lost some of their players (due to schedule conflicts or injuries) and still struggle to find some consistency. I still think they have the talent to compete going forward, but it’s going to be an uphill battle to find those wins this season.

8. SCOTTSDALE FA (0-3, LW 8) – As most FA teams know, finding the chemistry to play with players you’ve never played with before is a tough proposition. Players have yet to set their roles on this team and the rotation is sporadic at best. They have a stud player in Stuart Welch and they need to feed off his strong play.
