SCOTTSDALE, AZ: Week 4 Power Rankings | Save the drama for your mama

Bret Bernbaum and Chris Davis of the newly crowned #1 team - SPLASH BROTHERS

This league is too darn deep. These are the circumstances - teams are just going to have to do better than just beating the bad teams on their schedule. The SPLASH BROTHERS and the red hot PHX BALLERS appear to be the cream of the crop, but there's a lot of parity within this league. In fact, seven teams have at least two wins.

Week 4 Power Rankings

1. SPLASH BROTHERS (3- 1, LW 3) I’ve said this before but it’s worth repeating, this is the team to beat. They were shorthanded in their only loss this season but showed this week what their full squad can do. They are getting good production from Richard Azevedo despite being limited with a bad shoulder. Bret Bernbaum is their x-factor.

2. PHX BALLERS (3-1, LW 4) They are riding a 3-game winning streak. I’d put Chris Natale, Tyrone Jones, and Shawn Finecey up against any other three in the league. The numbers won’t show it, but Dinilo Singson continues to do the intangibles for this team.

3. PILLSBURY B BOYS (2-2, LW 7) Add me to the list of believers. They are one of the most dynamic teams in the league and with Michael Bizoukas hitting game winners left and right, no lead is safe until the final buzzer sounds. Klayton Kristick continues to drain the deep ball - knocking down a league leading 6.8 three pointers a game.

4. TIMELIFERS (3-1, LW 1) Despite their loss, this is still a very good team. They’ve got good shooters and will be competitive in every game. Those that underestimate them will pay the price. They have a tough matchup next week so we’ll see how they bounce back from their first set back of the season.

5. PINK CANOES (2-2, LW 2) My oh my, how the mighty have fallen. A 2-game losing streak is something no one could have predicted. Can they stop the bleeding or will the streak extend to three? The potential for this team has always been there, but with a bulls-eye target on their backs from day one, the pressure is now on to prove that they aren’t a fluke.

6. XOVER (2-2, LW 5) Their losses have been to some of the tops teams in this league. They've got the talent to win it all, but now it's just a matter of can they put it all together - they will score with the best of them, but their defense will need to show up night-in and night-out.

7. TEAM TO BEAT (1-2, LW 8) It was just a matter of time until this team got it going. It was a tough battle last week, but their defense finally showed up. Now with their first win under their belt, look for them to take the next leap forward and push their way into the conversation of who the best teams in the league truly is.

8. SUPERSONICS (2-2, LW 6) This is the most unpredictable team in the league. One week, they’ll have all their studs and look unstoppable. Next week, they’ll look pedestrian. This up-and –down theme will undoubtedly continue throughout the season. The question will be which team will show up in the playoffs.

9. KOBRA KAI (1-2, LW 9) Took a game winner by Josh Velez, but they got their first win of the season. Big man Shane Zink is making a strong case to be the best big in the league. Brandt Wilson has guaranteed at least 4 wins for this team and thinks the best is yet to come for them. Call me a cynic, but I only foresee 3 wins.

10. AMATEUR HOUR (0-4, LW 10) Give this rag-tag bunch of players credit, they came into this week looking more like a team and were minutes away from winning. There were rumblings that this team got together to hold a team scrimmage – positive signs that they are starting to get it.

Grab your popcorn, settle in and just enjoy the ride. There’s plenty of intrigue left in the season.
