SUGARLOAF,GA: Double Double was the Theme for the Opening Round of the Playoffs

Robert Monach has is eye on the prize.

Win or go home. It’s that simple when it comes to postseason play. The UH Life Sugarloaf Atlanta League had that theme and there were no surprises. There were several teams seeing double.
Rainmakers held on after a solid double-double performance. LifeTimers scorched the nets from beyond three-point range. The Huskies had two players who recorded double-doubles. Hustle Gang ran out early before holding on.
Here is the recap.

RainMakers 75, The Finest 70
Matthew Owusu is a handful on the basketball court. The lightening quick guard knows how to create havoc on the hardwood and did just that to help the RainMakers advance. He finished with 14 points. However, the most important piece of the team is Kelvin Porter. This high-energy forward recorded 20 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.
The Finest’s Tyler Baker and Floyd Brown tried to get things going scoring 17 points apiece but the team fell short. Big Man Rashad Muhammad pulled down 11 rebounds.

LifeTimers 90, Team Come Up 70
From the opening tip LifeTimers set the tone and never looked back. A portion of that comes from the team’s defense but its offensive production comes from its perimeter shooting. They shot a scorching 36 percent from 3-point range, which is strong compared to other teams in the league. One of the leagues best is Marquise Babb, who was 42 percent from 3-point range, to finish with a team-high 35 points. Steve Morant chipped in with 26 points.
Jeremy Sledge had the hot hand for Team Come Up, which came up short. He scored a game-high 40 points on 7-of-8 shooting from 3-point range.

Huskies 78, PrimeTimers 72
For a day the Huskies should call themselves team double double for Kenny Britt and Kojo Owusu. Britt scored a game-high 34 points and 11 rebounds. Owusu had 20 points and 10 assists. Carlos Barnes registered 20 points and snatched eight rebounds. It would’ve been unreal with three guys with double-double stats.
Chris Brown, not the R&B singer, scored a team-high 18 points for the PrimeTimers. Oscar Jones chipped in with 16 points. Troy Smith and Dawayne Burton added 14 points apiece. Adalius Thomas pulled down 10 rebounds and had nine points.

Hustle Gang 71, Team of All-Stars 60
While both teams finished tied in total points scored it the second half, it was what Hustle Gang did in the first-half helped them secure the victory. Holding an 11-point lead help them edge out the All-Stars.
Martin Johnson scored 20 points. Michael Johnson registered 14. Brett Abraham added 13 points and nine rebounds. Marcus Avent had 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Team of All-Stars fell short and picked a poor time to go cold from the field. Nevertheless, they had Chadum Cole lead them with 12 points. Tyler Baker added 11 and David Noh registered 10.
