FLOWER MOUND, TX: Power Rankings | Fresh Blood Changing Things Up

Ranked 4 in the league - The Cobras

Who's who in the Flower Mound league? We have some new blood, different combinations of returning players, and old teams returning and ready to perform.

So how will this season play out? Let's put together some Power Rankings.

1. The Flo-Mo Saints: their full squad minus Deonte Holmes is back and ready to defend the title! Together as a full unit they are seemingly impossible to beat. Why? FAST BREAK OFFENSE. If they play against a team with in-shape players, it's much more difficult for them to win. BUT, with Nino Mansour back from his honeymoon and playing PG, a well-operated half-court offense is sure to ensue.

2. Natty Light - they are always contenders for the ship! And, with the addition of Steve Ringquist to increase a strong down-low presence, other teams will have to change tactics to defeat this team. They will have to make sure in these first few weeks to take care of the basketball as Kevin Freeman is recovering from an injured arm and will have to sit the first few weeks out. 16 turnovers were a very large reason their opening game against Jordan's Disciples was so close, and the 3-point shot that brought it into overtime was a blessing for their victory.

3. Jordan's Disciples - this was a hard call as The Purple Cobras, when their full team shows up, can be very deadly. This would be an interesting battle; shooters vs post players. Jordan's Disciples came out strong against Natty Light opening night. Staying ahead most of the game, and hitting some key 3-pointers, JD put on quite a show! Unlucky for them, Natty Light hit, what many said was a lucky 3-pointer to tie the game. JD ended up losing in OT. JD came out strong against a top-team, and never have played together, this says a lot about their ability to come together as a unit and put up a good fight. A little more basketball knowledge and they would have won last week's game.

4. The Purple Cobras - this team has finally meshed as a unit AND added a key player, Corey Houston, to their roster to solidify their presence in the post position. With Baron Flenory healthy, Corey Houston dominating down-low, and all of their sharp-shooters on target, the Cobras could really do some damage in this league.

5. Try Hard(er) - their advantage is time together. They started in this league from it's birth and are a great unit. Word has it that Larry Allen may not be able to stay with the team, which could prove damaging to this team. BUT, with the addition of Brandon Smith they will now be able to compete for rebounds on both offense and defense. A little roster changes may bring this team up in the rankings.

Should be an interesting season with competition being all over the place. Are these rankings accurate? Leave your comments below.
