BREAKING NEWS: Dallas Votes CHARGE! | Phone Conference with a Pro Ref Changes it All
Bulls Celebrate their 2nd Vegas Championship
Dallas Texas votes CHARGE! At first I was all about the block. I thought the defender jumped in front of the offensive player on his way to the hoop, but I decided to defer to my best ref and go with what he says. He, in turn, got a second opinion from his buddy NBA ref who agreed with him. Listen in on what he has to say about the charge vs block call.
Video of the actual play:
Email from my ref:
"...tell them 2 things, the ref on the baseline is supposed to make the call. If 2 actually called it and they disagreed then by rule you report both fouls and go to the point of interruption for resumption of play. Since it appeared the shooter was still in possession of the ball then his team should have had the ball for a throw in on the end line.
...I kicked the play to one of my best friends who, if you've been watching the NBA Playoffs you would have seen. He's got charge as well. Not a difficult play to be honest with you unless the wrong guy tries to call it...."
There you have it! CHARGE!!!
Now, people say The Decision are the real champs, yada yada yada...but who says the Bulls wouldn't be able to pull something off in the last seconds of the game? Heck, The Decision hit the front lip of the rim on that last shot to almost win the game back! Bad call went both ways throughout the entire game, this one just happened to be the last call. Why not blame the game on a missed block foul against the Decision that happened the first half? You can't. The call was made and The Bulls won. I'm excited to see what teams come next year to try and steal that trophy from the Bulls.
GREAT week in Vegas and a lot of fun watching some amazing teams out there. Can't wait for 2014.
