PHOENIX: Next Stop Playoffs
Story by Tony Tinsley
Week 8 was interesting. After a rough start one of the lowest scoring first halves in Ultimate Hoops Arizona history, Melander's Crew said that they would be ready for the playoffs. They dug themselves a hole they could not get out of. Blake Austin led the Pink Canoes with 20 points and 10 rebounds and they also got a game high 14 rebounds from Justin Ross, who out rebounded league leader Travis Bryant.
Due to Anthony Hermiz a car accident, Mike Delbrocco's sprained ankle and pending knee surgery for a third player, Happy Feat was extended an injury exception by League officials and added Danny Dziezic a familiar face to UH Scottsdale. Dziezic is a career 17 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists per game player. But even with Danny's help and Kyle Hansen dumping in 28 points, it would not be enough to overtake Phoenix Ballers in week 8. Tyrone Jone had a typical game with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and Kevin Mayfield helped him out with a monster double-double, 22 points and 12 rebounds, he also threw in a steal and 4 assist for good measure.
