UH MINNESOTA - REVIEW OF PLAYERS COMMITTEE MEETING @ PLYMOUTH

Jonathon Moore and Nick Roell come together at the first Minnesota Players Committee meeting in Plymouth

UH MINNESOTA - REVIEW OF PLAYERS COMMITTEE MEETING @ PLYMOUTH

ABOUT PLAYER ELIGIBILITY:
- Idea to allow ineligible Rec players to petition to Players Committee to be able to play in Rec League. The idea is to make it a one-season deal when a player asks to play (so, for example, if Joe Neuenfeldt asks to play in Rec, and the Players committee allows it, Joe can play for one season. He must reapply each season thereafter.) Other ideas include using the PPR formula to determine eligibility. Nothing was passed, deferred to next meeting when someone comes up with a more detailed/structured/organized plan.

ABOUT PLAYOFF FORMAT:
- Motion #1: Players Committee will rank the 8 at-large bids via secret ballot. This will create the four "play-in" games. After play-in games are completed, the Players Committee will reconvene and seed the remaining 16-team field. (MOTION PASSED)
- Motion #2: Players Committee will rank the 16 post-play-in teams on a sliding scale, 1 (best) through 16 (worst) by secret ballot, to be collected by Jimmy Neilly. Teams cumulative score via these ballots will determine seed and bracket location. (MOTION PASSED)
- The Target Center is the desired location for the host club of the playoffs. Also, there was some talk of moving the playoff week/weekend back a week (due to National Tourney, and general consensus of the Committee)

OPEN FORUM FOR IDEAS/COMMENTS/CONCERNS ABOUT LEAGUE:
- Idea from Chad Wessels: In the second half of a game that is within 15 points, there will only be a 10-second run off of the clock on free throws. Motion was deferred to next meeting to allow people to think about it, and to allow for a formal proposal.
- Idea from Derek Batiste: Grading referees (via paper slip at end of game), with grades potentially impacting referee eligibility for playoffs. Anything regarding referees is an ineligible topic for the Players Committee.
- Idea from Heath, Derek, Nick: Bulletin Board decorum. Everyone agreed there should be a way to flag comments for removal if the discussion on a certain thread gets out of hand. Also, it was agreed that it should be made public to follow proper conduct and have good decorum when on the Bulletin Boards.
- General idea: Allowing non-Facebook users to post on the boards.
- Idea from Heath: Formalizing jersey technical fouls. Proposal not yet formalized, but some people want it to be a league rule that teams must have uniforms (same jersey, colors, numbers, etc. like the Riddlers or Bobcats or Greenhorns) in order to get a spot in the league. Others want it to be less strict, and just make it that as long as there are numbers on the jersey, its okay. Decision deferred to next meeting, when we have a formal proposal.

Attendance: 10/10

Next Meeting: Thursday, March 10th @ Fridley.
