PARKER, CO: Blowouts, Dunks, and Defense Highlight the first week in Parker

Ultimate Hoops is BACK...In Parker, CO that is. After a long hiatus UH is back in Parker and the players and fans couldn't be more excited. Throughout the day, there was a buzz at the Parker Life Time Fitness surrounding the return of Ultimate Hoops.

Young Gunz - 94 vs The Grizz - 53
The first game of the night featured the two youngest teams in the league playing against each other. We expected to see a lot of runnin and gunnin from both teams and not much defense. We were surprised when the Young Gunz held The Grizz to 53 total points. The Young Gunz were led by D'Marcus Fitch who had 27 points on 11-29 shooting from the field and 3-9 from the 3-Point line. As a team the Young Gunz made 9 three's shooting 35% percent from behind the arc. The Grizz found theirselves as cold as the Colorado night air. They were led by 18 points from Brandon Cassagnol but only shot 2-12 from behind the arc as a team. The Grizz also got out rebounded 34 to 25. 15 of Young Gunz 34 rebounds came on the offensive end. In the end, the Young Gunz held true to their name and came away with the lopsided win.

Mile High Ballerz - 63 vs Bone Thugs - 96
The second game of the night was also highly anticipated. Bone Thugs are a solid team with skilled players at every position while Mile High Ballerz have great athletes and like to push the tempo. Mile High is still struggling to get all of their players to the gym for games as they had to pick up two guys from other teams to play the game. Those additions didn't help because it was all Bone Thugs from the tip. Bone Thugs were led my Matt Cannizzaro who had 31 points on 13-19 shooting from the field. Bone Thugs also dominated the glass holding a 60 to 20 rebounding advantage over Mile High Ballerz. The Ballerz were led by Jermaine Mackey who scored 31 points on 12-27 shooting from the field. Bone Thugs is looking more like a solid and difficult team to beat as they show that defense and rebounding wins games.

Diamond - 89 vs Life Time - 83
The final game of the evening was by far the most exciting. These two teams were very evenly matching. Diamond came out with a hot hand gaining a 6-0 lead right away. Life Time would hang tough as Aaron Stevens heated up. Aaron scored 37 points shooting 13-23 from the field and an amazing 8-15 from behind the arc. Many of Stevens' threes were from a different zip code. Despite the hot shooting of Stevens, Diamond stuck with their game plan and held tough. They were led by Levi Olsen who had 32 points. Trent Decrow put on a great shooting clinic shooting 12-14 from the field before an injury took him out of the game with 5 minutes left. The stat of the game was the 15 offensive rebounds that Diamond secured. In the end Diamond came out on top. This is a matchup to keep an eye on as these two teams will play each other later during the year.

Next week's games head back to Centennial. We will see if Young Gunz can keep up their hot streak and if Diamond can continue their winning ways. Tune in next week to see the highlights.
