Kansas City: KC Generals Legit?

Game one went underway a little after 7:30 tip and it came down to the wire in the first half. With Alodia versus KC Generals, Alodia was trying to come back off a loss last week. KC Generals came out strong in the first half and battled hard against Alodia. Exchanging buckets left and right, KC Generals would take a lead with 8:48 left in the first half 22-17 with Jordon Mehalic hitting a big three bucket, but Alodia had an answer, Dalon Hardgraves hit a three to cut the lead to only 22-20. With only a few minutes left in the first half, KC Generals were gaining their flow together to get a more comfortable lead. With 3:08 left in the first half Carlos Scruggs hits a big three putting them up 32-24 and after being fouled with a made basket he extended the lead to 35-28. With 24 points and 17 boards for the night, Alodia was having a hard time containing his offensive strength. At the half KC Generals were sitting with a 10 point lead (40-30) and Alodia knew they would need to come back strong in the second half not only to battle back but to take a lead. Alodia during the half strategized to try and come back offensively and stay strong defensively. However they couldn’t get a shot to fall in the second half. Jordyn Chamberlin had an excising night with 33 points, shooting 50% FG and 10 rebounds, for Alodia. He was holding the team within reach of gaining the lead, but with sharp-shooter Brian Rich, hitting a few three’s the comeback was dwindling. All 5 players for KC Generals were in double digits and with a final score of 92-57, it seems that KC Generals are showcasing and peaking just in time for the second half of the season.

With some players out for the Celtics, the Cobras in Game two were going to try and take advantage of their smaller bench. However with the power and strength that the Celtics have on their team, it would be a hard task for the Cobras to handle. Celtics would open the game with a 12-0 run and big man Adam Coatney for the Cobras would hit a three to finally end that run. Coatney the big man on the team needed to get his team running, grabbing some boards and forcing turnovers would be the only way the Cobras could start coming back. At the half it was apparent the Celtics were keeping the game in their control. Chad Wessel with a double-double at half with 10 points and 12 rebounds was well on his way to helping his team claim the win. The second half, Cobras were not giving up without a fight, with Curt McDonald pushing his team within 18 hitting a few buckets back to back with 18:15 left in the game, the Cobras were still in this. However the Celtics came back with defense, forcing turnovers impressively. The game ended with 3 of the 5 Celtics with double-doubles, Jacob Gandy, Justin Pederson, Zeke Cuddy, and Wessel with a triple double. It looks like the Celtics are sitting atop of the Power Rankings again for the 4th week in a row.

Game three would be a nail biter, between the Commissioner Tim Cicconne’s team, OP’s Finest and the trainers of Lenexa, KC’s Finest. These two teams who have seen each other in previous sessions were going to battle. Would KC’s Finest be able to keep moving up in the Power Rankings, or would OP’s Finest be able to come off of a loss from last week? Acquiring a new man to their squad, Dusty Burdolski, KC’s Finest was put to the test to see if they would be able to work together still and make some big plays. Burdolski came out strong with for his team, with the game tied at 28-28 with 3:30 left in the first half, Burdolski hit a big two. Forcing a change of possession, KC’s Finest Andrew Hannon hit three-pointer making the lead 33-28. With only 2:04 left, OP’s Finest Jehren Reney hit two back to back buckets and KC’s Finest only leading by 1. With a couple exchanges back and forth between the two teams the Burdolski would end the second half with a two, 37-35, giving them huge momentum for the second half. KC’s Finest knew to stay strong they would have to keep up their shots, and stay back defensively. Staying on OP’s finest sharp shooter Maurice Lamar would also be a huge task. The second half started and KC’s finest took possession, coming out of the gate with Brandon Major hitting a three and going on an 8-0 run. However Lamar would put a stop to that run hitting a three cutting the lead to only 5. With 15:46 left in the game KC’s finest was up by 9, and OP’s finest Lamar knew that he would have to keep up with his three game. Lamar hitting 7-15 from beyond the arc was not enough to pull in the win for his team. With KC’s Finest having 4 of their players in double digits they are starting to gain the momentum they need just in time for the second half of the season.

This week’s games are going to be very exciting, to see if these teams can keep their winning streaks alive. Will big teams like Alodia be able to bounce back from their back to back losses? Will the Cobras finally be able to grab their first big win to hopefully help them gain some strength before the playoffs? The power rankings should be interesting, with KC’s Finest winning their second game in a row, and KC Generals still maintaining their strength.
