AJAX, ON: Game Notebook Week 8 | Will Tough Juice win it all?

Its the last game of the regular season in Ultimate Hoops Mississauga and all teams came in the gym hungry! Like said last week a lot of teams are trying to climb out that last place spot to put them in a better position for the playoffs. Now the places are set and its going to be exciting in the playoffs.

Game 1 The Defaz vs Red Hawks
Game 2 Team Dab vs Durham Flight
Game 3 Eastside Goodfellas vs Tough Juice
Game 4 Soldiers vs Jumpmen

Game 1
The night got exciting right from the jump in Ajax for the first game. Red Hawks have been in slump for most of season but came in strong this game vs The Defaz.

Brandon Blais came out strong this game hitting threes and attacking the basket creating And 1 opportunities. He finished with 14 points and a couple of rebounds. Mark Grizzle did a good job finding his teammates and facilitating. Mark finished with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists. Dominick Philipe did a great job playing the passing lane and hustling for lose balls, he had 9 points, 3 assists and 5 steals.

Defaz played solid this game led by Justin Wiltshire that finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds. He always brings an efficient game. Lamont Wiltshire and Dion Clarke also played well contributing with 3 pointers, rebounds and assists. Lamont had 13 and 7 rebounds and Dion had 11 points. Overall it wasn't enough to stop Red Hawks this game they were connecting all their shots inside and outside. Red Hawks beat The Defaz 62 - 60.

Game 2
Team Dab still trying to break their losing streak before the end of this spring season. They still always are unfortunate missing 1 - 2 players each game. Durham Flight starting to show more chemistry.

Richie Allen and Phil Levy continue to have solid games despite them trailing most of the time. Richie played with poise and control trying to guide his teammates during the game. He finished with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Phil is always fighting inside he had 14 points and 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Unfortunately this wasn't enough to beat Durham Flight.

Durham Flight like said before is a strong team from their starters to their bench. Its kind of hard to beat a team when two of their players are dropping 24 points. Those two were Bejun Dela Cruz and Tyrell Atkins. Both of these guys were lighting it up from the three. Jonathan Samuels and Cienna also had solid games to compliment the team's great performance. Jonathan scored 12 points and 8 rebounds and Cienna had 15 points and 6 rebounds. It looks like Durham Flight is starting to figure out how to use each other to their strengths. Durham Flight take it over Team Dab 89 - 43.

Game 3
Another great game for the night of this last season night. Eastside Goodfellas, coming off a 5 win streak had a lot riding on this game was in the gym early and focused. Tough Juice was a big obstacle to go through going into the playoffs and effects both teams place in the playoffs.

Tough Juice had some trouble from Eastside starting off strong. Tough Juice didn't shoot as much three pointers as they usually do and decided to attack the basket. Andre Chung had 19 points with three 3 pointers and 6 rebounds. Stanleigh Mitchell had 8 points and 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Tough Juice were really vocal with each other in a positive manner giving each other feedback and keeping their team play strong.

Eastside Goodfellas' Lorrington Murray brought it this game. As a guard he played aggressive attacking the basketball and hit all his free throws and also was 60% from the field. He finished with 17 points and had a lot of help from his duo Peter Okalebo. He kept the team energized and focused and is starting to mold into a leader type player. Eastside performance however wasn't enough to beat Tough Juice in this hard game. Tough Juice beat Eastside Goodfellas securing their top spot 58 - 50.

Game 4
Last game in the night was the most unexpected. Jumpmen one of the last place teams in league came out strong against the 2nd place team in the league, "Run and Gun" Soldiers.

Soldier's Anthony Irispen was the only player to get in the double digits scoring exactly 10 points which is unusual for them. Chris Elizon had the most rebounds with only 5 and Leon had the most assist with 5. The Soldiers didn't play like they usually do this game and Jumpmen took advantage of that which is why Jumpmen was able to stay in it with them and lead most of the game.

Jumpmen's Shaquille Francis did what he does best. Getting up and down the court quickly, scoring and getting in the passing lane. Shaq did try and force it a lot which gave him 6 turnovers this game. Jermaine is also showing his worth in this league creating a difference with the Jumpmens playstyle from when he entered the league. He had 18 points and 8 rebounds. This game wasn't a high scoring game which caused both teams to focus on defense and Jumpmen had the slight edge. Jumpmen beat second place Soldiers 46 - 45.
