GILBERT, AZ: Week 6 Power Rankings | Have the tides turned?

Their record may not show it, but GRINDIN may have finally turned the corner with a key late season addition.

Week 6 Power Rankings

1. GAME OVER (6-0, LW 1) – In last week’s game, this group took one early in the mouth and it seemed to rock them a bit. The young bucks from REGULATORS took it upon themselves to challenge these guys and had GAME OVER on the ropes. But as champs do, they regrouped and came back for a nice come from behind win. I just hope they don’t have these same lapses in Vegas or its going to be an early return trip back to AZ.

2. REGULATORS (3-2, LW 2) – I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it…this team is a scrappy bunch that plays hard. Their defense is a bit underrated…they have long guys that get in your face and they can rebound with the best of them. They held GAME OVER last week to only 17 points in the 1st half. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to sustain their momentum and let it slip away, but I have to give them credit for hanging in there tough with the big boys. Hopefully they learn from this and can put up a solid 44 minutes going forward.

3. GRINDIN (2-3, LW 4) – Hey look at them now! They pulled of a nice little win last week (w/o leading scorer Steve Wess) and honestly looked pretty impressive doing so. IMO, the biggest change from early in the season to now...adding big man Almond Brewer to the mix - dude can play. It took him about a half to get used to the game flow and his teammates, but once he got going, he was a handful and damn near impossible to stop on the low blocks. He’s the big (and depth) that this team was missing and should help tremendously in the statewide tournament.

4. HITTIN TRIPS (3-4, LW 3) – I don’t know if I jinxed them or not but they have fallen on hard times as of late. I said that they’d be my sleeper team out here in Gilbert but they sure have made me look foolish. Granted they lost Christian early on in the second half of last week’s game due to an injured eye, but they were the more talented team and should have pulled out a victory. Their offense has been sluggish of late, but I think the biggest difference is that their defense has been below par.

5. HEATWAVE (1-5, LW 5) – I said in the last power rankings that they would surprise a team in the next week or so and they did that. These guys are starting to get it and are playing a lot better than they were in the beginning of the season. Unfortunately, I think this might be the only highlight for them all season. They may get one more victory but I doubt it…though I would love to see them win a few more.
