GILBERT, AZ: Week 4 Power Rankings | New King of the Hill
Boo Wade and the rest of the SET IT OFF team cruises by GAME OVER to take over the top spot in Gilbert
Week 4 Power Rankings
1. SET IT OFF (4-0, LW 2) – All season long Jason Harrison has been saying they are the best team in Gilbert - after last week’s impressive win over the reigning Gilbert champs, he may have just justified that claim. From what I can tell, it’s going to be hard to bet against them. They have a veteran squad and are playing their best ball of the season. The addition of Boo Wade, along with all their sharp shooters from the outside, adds a dynamic that will be hard to match.
2. GAME OVER (3-1, LW 1) – I’m sure last week’s loss was a tough one to take for these guys. They just couldn’t make the stops late in the game when they needed it. Not having big man Engen was huge, but it’s still not an excuse as they have enough talent all around to beat anybody. This loss should help to motivate them as I expect them to bounce back with a strong win next week.
3. STAFFBROTHERS (3-1, LW 3) – A controversial call overshadowed what should have been a solid win versus a solid team. Their shots will always be there but they need to play better all-around defense - they still just give up too many easy buckets and offensive rebounds. On a brighter note, Rico McNeal and Reggie Jackson form an imposing tandem that should wreak havoc on the blocks that they’ve been missing for years.
4. HITTIN TRIPS (1-3, LW 4) – They were looking to add to their newfound winning ways last week but their emotions got the best of them and it costs them the win. They actually played the best they have all season and showed some heart as they nearly pulled out a late game win after being down all game. They’ve added a nice piece in Kelly McCarty that will help them offensively. I don’t think their latest loss will deter them one bit but time will tell.
5. GRINDIN (1-3, LW 5) – They got their first win of the season and finally looked to be at full strength. I like how well their two bigs are playing and will be a handful in any game. Darrell Hunter will continue to do it all for them and Steven Wess can be the scoring threat they have always needed. They still need to find their identity on offense and will have depth issues all season but a win is a win is a win - let's see if they can build off that.
6. HEATWAVE (0-4, LW 6) – Took a small step back last week after putting a solid showing the week before. They still take too many ill-advised shots and their defense leaves little to be admired. They have the scoring threats outside to hang with anybody and found a nice hustle player in Tyler Bishop, but it’s looking like another winless season for this bunch.
