GILBERT, AZ: Week 3 Power Rankings | It's All Up For Grabs
SET IT OFF is off to a hot start but will they be able to take the next step and come up with a win next week?
Week 3 Power Rankings
1. GAME OVER (3-0, LW 1) – They may have overlooked last week’s matchup a bit because they gave up too many easy buckets to our last place team and pulled out a closer-than-it-shoulda been victory. But they do what they do which was just enough to win and keep the top spot. Week 4's matchup will be their biggest test to date for them (not to mention our game o' the night) The winner of that game will be able to claim top dog in Gilbert.
2. SET IT OFF (3-0, LW 2) – They shook off a slow 1st half against the STAFFBROTHERS last week to pull out an impressive win. However, I am not ready to jump them to the number one spot just yet. BUT if they can pull off another impressive win, they will deservedly be crowned the number one team. It will be a tough game, but it wouldn’t be a surprise because these guys have the talent to pull out the win.
3. STAFFBROTHERS (2-1, LW 3) – They ran into a better team last week and fell short when the expectations were at their highest. When they started to fall behind, they couldn’t find the drive to overcome the adversity of playing an offensive minded team. I will be interested to see if they can rebound and find a way back to their winning ways from earlier in the season.
4. HITTIN TRIPS (1-2, LW 5) – They got off the schneid and got their first win of the season. The game was back and forth throughout, but they finally looked like they’ve turned the corner. They were able to move the ball much better and play better defense. They still have a long ways to go to get back to their once elite status, but this is a good step in that direction.
5. GRINDIN (0-3, LW 4) – Another disappointing loss for this group last week as they didn’t have their new go-to scorer Steven. But knowing these guys, this is still not an excuse they want to hear. They all play hard and both their big men are matchup problems for most teams, while Darrell is big guard that does it all. However, depth is going to be an issue all season long and they are going to need to find their offense soon or this may be a lost season for this veteran group.
6. HEATWAVE (0-3, LW 6) – They showed us glimpses of what this team is capable of with a gritty battle against GAME OVER last week. They were hitting shots and their ball movement was the best I’ve seen it all season. They got a lot of hustle points and offensive rebounds in their last game and if they can play with the same intensity, I expect them to pull out some solid wins going forward.
