WESTMINSTER, CO: Playoffs | What are the Odds?

Dudley setting the pick that's going to hurt for days

Plenty of people bet on basketball, and that's why Las Vegas has released their playoff odds for Ultimate Hoops Westminster. Here are the championship odds for every team heading in to the first round of the playoffs.

Life Time Legends 100/1: Not much has gone right for this free agent team this season, but the improvements they have made over the past eight weeks can't be overlooked. Their record may not show it, but if the Life Time Legends of today took on the Life Time Legends of week 1, today's team would beat week 1 by at least 20 points.

The Bad Boys 90/1: Coming in to this season, expectations were higher for The Bad Boys than they have been in quite some time. They added some youth to their roster in the form of Richard Peterson and Alfredo Gracia, not to mention the addition of UH Brand Ambassador Matt Cannizzaro, but things have not gone as planned. The season has been marred by ejections, trade demands and dysfunction, so a championship for The Bad Boys would come as quite a shock to many people.

The Great Unknown 75/1: The season started off strong for The Great Unknown, rising as high as number two in the power rankings, but injuries and uncertainty has derailed their season. It's not a good thing when discussing a team and the first question asked is: who is going to show up? Who is going to show up for the playoffs? I have no idea.

Hong Kong Diesel 60/1: This squad, mostly comprised of Centennial Life Timers, joined the Westminster league in week 3 with a lot of hype. They've showed glimpses of that hype in some of their games, but overall, their season has not gone as planned. While reeling of a few victories in the playoffs would not come as a surprise to many people, winning the championship would.

MonSTARS 60/1: This team has a very balanced roster. They have an MVP candidate (Chris Hayes, one of the best athletes in the gym (Richard Peterson, and arguably the best rim-protector in the league (Kyle Norman) but they've dealt with some tough losses this season. Every championship team needs to learn how to win before getting to that level, and that's what the MonSTARS are going through right now. While they may not win the championship this season, I expect them to compete for one in the summer.

Slam Drunk 40/1: This is a team that absolutely no one wants to play. Slam Drunk is a team comprised of a lot of Ultimate Hoops veterans that isn't scared of anyone. Gehrick Dickson can go for 30 and 15 on any given night; Mike Murnan can score from anywhere on the court; and if Nikki Trujillo catches fire like she can, this team can hang with anyone. The question for Slam Drunk is: do they have the size to beat the bigger teams?

We Goin Sizzler 40/1: The beginning of the spring season did not go well for We Goin Sizzler. Not only were they getting beat, but they were getting beat badly. Sizzler GM Patrick Dudley used some of his Irish luck to recruit some free agents that have totally turned their season around. Jacob Stewart has hit some key shots on the perimeter while Brian Stamer (known as "The Anomaly" because he is a big man that actually likes to play in the post) has been a force in the paint. Their chemistry has gotten better every week, and their another team that no one wants to play.

The Kardashians 25/1: I refer to this team as "The Young Guns," because they are, by far, the youngest team in Ultimate Hoops Westminster. Michael Skinner makes at least one highlight reel play a game, whether it's blocking shots or throwing down alley-oops; when Josh Ralfs opens the door to the gym, he is in range; and Marcquis Scott holds down the fort in the paint. GM Nick Nizam has assembled a solid squad that will be a tough out in the playoffs.

Long Shots 15/1: The Long Shots are the most athletic team in the league. They like to get out and run and if you try to run and outscore them, you're going to lose. Derek Elliott is a force inside and out, and his brother Brad Elliott is a lockdown defender. The only with this team is they lack size in the middle. If a team slows the game down and runs their offense through the paint, the Long Shots may be in trouble, but that's a big "if."

The Gladiators 10/1: My math be a little off, but if you add up all of the seasons The Gladiators have played in Ultimate Hoops, it's close to 7,000. This team hustles, plays defense and can score with the best of them. Noel Flores and Mason Clements-Thompson are legitimate MVP candidates and Saul Chavira will run through any screen in front of him. Can The Gladiators bring home that elusive banner that has slipped out from under their hands before? We'll have to wait and see.

IMPACT Basketball 2/1: Being one of the favorites is nothing new to IMPACT Basketball. They have two of the best players in the league in Beau Barney and Jimmy Binnie, UH veteran and resident garbage man in Nick Williams, and a solid newcomer in Derek Levy. One big question mark for this team is their depth, and if one of their "big players" has an off night, can they still get the W in the playoffs? It's tough to bet against this team, but if they are going to win it all, they will most likely have to go through one team...

Hard Work 3/2: When you haven't lost in 2015, it shouldn't come as a surprise when you're the favorite heading in to the playoffs. Shondell Lee has this team rolling, and it doesn't look like they're slowing down. It's almost an embarrassment of riches for Hard Work. If Lee has an off night, point guard extraordinaire Carlos Matos can beat you. If Matos is struggling, Ruben Rivas, who doesn't know the meaning of "less than 100%", can carry this squad. Oh, Rivas isn't having his best night, here comes Tom Pane, doing all of the little things that helps teams win. I could keep going, but you get the picture.

So...who's your money on?
