SUGARLOAF, GA: Week 2 Power Rankings | Duke and Team USA are a Step Above the Rest

Dom Bland isn't laughing now at the way the Spartans are playing this season.

After 2 weeks of great basketball at Sugarloaf it looks like the teams to beat are Team Duke and Team USA. Both teams have the entire package, but will Team Duke's experience be the deciding factor?

1. Team Duke (2-0)

Kendrick Jones has a monster performance in Week 2, shooting 11-18 for 27 points. The Blue Devils look to be firing on all cylinders this season as they try to become a championship contender. AD returned to action in week 2, and with his inside presence they are a tough team beat. Right now I would say it an extremely close battle for the top spot, but the Blue Devils get the nod since Team USA seemed to struggle with the Free Agents this week.

2. Team USA (2-0)

Team USA had 5 guys in double digits led by Devon Scott and Matt Owusu with 25 each. Devon Scott is by far the best big man in accross all of the leagues in Atlanta. He just finished playing at Dayton this past season and has one more year of eligibility left. We are glad to have him in our league while he figures out his future, but I'm sure the opposing teams wish they didn't have to deal with him inside. If Owusu can start to play better with his teammates, I don't see how any team could beat Team USA, even the Blue Devils.

3. Spartans (1-1)

After blowing a 15 point lead to a makeshift Prime Time team, the Spartans do not look like the team that won a championship last season. Maybe they are struggling with the success, but they better get used to teams coming out and playing them hard. After winning a championship you have a target on your back, but they can't let their tempers get to them. They are 1-3 across both of their leagues and their stock is falling fast. They better figure this out soon, or they will be looking at an early exit in the post season.

4. Prime Time Playazz (1-1)

I'm not sure what is going on with Prime Time, but they don't seem like they have it all together yet this year. This was once a group that you would have in your preseason championship prediction year in and out, but right now I don't know if they could get out of the first round. They did pull out a nice comeback in week 2, but they need to start playing better basketball if they want to get back to the top of the rankings.

5. Free Agents (0-2)

Marcus Ross and Troy Smith need someone else to step up on the Free Agents if this team is going to win a game this year. Romie Suljic had a great game with 28 points, but he has yet to prove if he can do that on a weekly basis. They took Team USA to overtime, but nobody watching that game ever thought that Team USA wasn't in control. If they can add a little size that would help them, but right now they are at the bottom of the pack.

6. Rainmakers (0-2)

The Rainmakers are back to take the spot of the Young All Stars. This is a very familiar team and just like usual, they are back to their losing ways. They have plenty of talent in this group, but they never seem to be able to put it all together for 44 minutes. Hopefully this year it starts to work itself out, but right now they look like the same team that lost most of it's games last year.
