MONTVALE, NJ: Give Them a Hand!

John Cotton and Old School are back to their winning ways

The Ferrall Ballerz get a win for the first time since what seems like the spring. Vinnie Graff scores Montvale UHoops’ first-ever triple-double by actually passing the ball ten times. Stop the madness!

No drama, no overtime, and no disaster. The Ferrall Ballerz have entered the win column with a convincing triumph over the Bad Boyz. Sure, the Ballerz defeated the lone team in the league that remains win-less, but that’s beside the point.

They led by double-digits at the half, and except for a mini-run in the second session, they were never in any real danger. Quite a contrast from the previous two weeks. Seriously, don’t be surprised if these guys go on a run. They should be 3-0, and with a favorable match-up against the Tropics next week, they could be a very confident squad going into back-to-back contests vs. Old School and RUNt.

While the Ballerz are taking baby steps towards respectability, RUNt is simply destroying the competition. Another 20+ point win? Get used to it. Vinnie Graff going for 14, 12 and 10? What? Did we get those stats right? In a stunner, Graff had nearly as many assists as shot attempts (12 to 10). Sure, he played every last minute of the blowout to reach the mark, but it’s impressive nonetheless. When will we see another triple-double? Probably around the time RUNt loses a game. Needless to say, our nomination for Northeast Player of the Week goes to Mr. Vinnie Graff.

Speaking of impressive, Old School handled their business this week after RUNt took them down last Wednesday in eye-opening fashion. A 23-point rout and only 39 for their opponents, the McNuggets? That sounds much more like the Old School of, well, old. Even so, they’ve got a lot to do to prove they can be a contender and erase the memory of last week’s blowout. Fortunately, the season is still young. On to Week 4...
