KJ: Hey UH Trash Talkers: Just Zip It Already!

Is anyone else sick of the coulda, shoulda, wouldas of Ultimate Hoops?

Because I am.

C’mon, you know what I’m talking about. The same guys who make nothing but excuses when their teams lose* and say they will for sure win the next season. Then they talk trash on the hard workers who actually earned their way to the trophy game.

Know of any of those jokers in your Ultimate Hoops league?

I do**.

And I have a special message for them: Just shut it already. We heard you. You’re annoying.

And guess what else I have to say to you?

When you’re running your mouth you’re not working on your game, the ball skills you’re obviously lacking and you’re also not being a team player.

Plus the last time I checked, there still wasn’t an ‘I’ in team and you’re the only one on your squad foaming at the mouth.

So go back to riding pine, because you’re acting like Glen Davis and the rest of the boys want to actually contribute.

Your constant jawing isn’t a diabolically genius way to play mind games. It’s just plain noise that you’re making and all you’re succeeding in doing is getting yourself winded.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t room for trash talk and hindsight in any sport. And, I wouldn’t expect Ultimate Hoops to be anything less than fiercely competitive.

Please, I’m old enough to realize that to be respected and confident one must project confidence.

However, there’s something to be said for being able to back up the noise that is coming out of your mouth.

Reggie Miller, Larry Bird and Gary Payton were among the best trash-talkers in the last generation of NBAers. They were also among the best players.

Am I the only one seeing a coincidence here?

You can chirp all you want, but I truly believe the greatest teams in the Ultimate Hoops leagues let their play do the talking.

Without naming any names, I think every Ultimate Hoops Winter Season Rec Champion will agree with me. Their mouths aren’t what got them that shiny gold cup you’re trophy case is missing.

So, let’s hear it in the comments below. Am I off-base in my claim that the squeakiest wheel really is just squeaky? Or, is trash talk what makes an Ultimate Hoops champion?

More importantly, who is the talker/whiner/excuse maker in your Ultimate Hoops league? If they can dish it out, they’d better be able to take it, right? No better time than the present to call out your pick in the comments section.

While you’re down there, I’d also love to hear who the best unsung heroes are of the Ultimate Hoops Spring Season. Now that my beloved Rebels have disbanded until summer, I’m left without a squad to cheer for.

p.s. I kind of like my teams to be hard-working and quiet.
