TEMPE, AZ: Week 4 Preview | Monstars in Trouble?

Its been a rough start for Kenny Mahone and the Monstars this Season.

With 6 weeks to go in the regular season teams are finding their swagger, continuing to roll or still struggling to find an identity. We are three weeks down in what has proven itself to be the most competitive season yet! It’s not too late to turn things around or lose your stride completely. Let’s take a look at this week’s matchups…

WOLVES VS MONSTARS 630PM:
Game 1 of week 4 in Tempe will be the Monstars tangling with the Wolves in a battle of the bruised and bloodied. In week 3, their opponents bodied both teams, with the Monstars losing by 33 to team Hashtag while the Bulls trampled the Wolves by 45 points! Kenny Mahone shot an impressive 10-14 from the field while going 4-6 from beyond the arc, contributing 26 points in their losing effort. As a team the Monstars put up a respectable 93 points but they allowed a league high 126 points from their opponents. A lack of defense combined with a dismal assist total of 4 is a recipe for disaster for this once powerful team. If they can’t find a way to share the ball and defend we can chalk up another “L” for them in week 4.
The Wolves have had a Charles Barkley-esque “tuuuurrrrible” two weeks. This team has some talent and length but they just can’t seem to put anything together. With only Brandon Host scoring in the double digits last week, this team needs a full moon, a séance or a magic spell to pull things together for week 4. With another loss, I think the league will be forced to change their team name to “Wolf Pups”.
Prediction: Although the Monstars are struggling, I think they have too much firepower for the Wolves…Monstars by 20.

WHO'S NEXT VS BULLS 630PM:
Game 2 of our quadruple header will give us a rematch of last season’s championship game with Who’s Next against the Bulls. It seems as though the Bulls have found their stride with last weeks pouncing of the Wolves. The Bulls are a dangerous team due to the fact that they know how to share the ball and play defense; their 21 assists and 12 steals last week evidence this! Tyler Labrum had an impressive performance going 8-9 from the field and shooting 100% from beyond the arc! A “big” hitting threes spells trouble for opponents. Donald Didlake also had an impressive game with 22 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. Mark Hanoosh showed some flashes of brilliance with 11 points and 4 assists, as he grinds his way back to game condition after a fracture.
Who’s Next is 1-1 coming off of a bye week and hopefully they got enough rest to run with the Bulls. Having gone toe-to-toe with Splash Brothers in an upsetting but close loss, look for this team to do their best to seek revenge for their last loss AND the championship game last season.
Prediction: Bulls by 17

HASHTAG VS TEMPE FA 730PM
Game 3 will likely be yawn fest as honesty is the best policy. Team Hashtag will be playing the Tempe Free Agent team in our third of four. No disrespect to the free agents but this is going to be like watching a cat toy with a mouse…Hashtag is the most potent offensive team in the league and they will be facing the most porous offensive team in the league. It’s going to be ugly and one-sided, I think records will be broken in this game…
Prediction: #Massacreby55

SPLASH BROTHERS VS BAD GUYS 730PM:
The fourth and final game will feature two smack talking and vocally villainous teams, Splash Brothers versus Bad Guys. The Splash Brothers have yet to falter this season and are consequently undefeated going into week 4. Thus far unstoppable guard play and the reactivation of center Mark Price could prove to be a formula for continued victory for this team. Nick “Got 40?” Tomsick poured in another 40-point performance last week as his compadre in arms Bret Bernbaum poured in 32 of his own (Nick if you’re reading this we can split the royalties on the “Got 40?” merchandise and swag). If teams want a chance at beating these guys they are going to have to find a way to contain these two guards.
The Bad Guys Michael Rose and James Braxton certainly think they have found the key to winning in Tempe. In their post game interview from week 3, having achieved their first victory in 10 games including last season, these two made it known that “…people suck and [they] just play…” and that “…it’s easy in Tempe…” With their newfound confidence and all the expected swagger (and more) of a team with one victory in ten games, they are now faced with the task of living up to their words…let’s see how that goes against the Splash Brothers.
Prediction: One player from the Bad Guys will get ejected and will be forced to read about his team’s 19-point loss on www.uhlife.com.
P.s. I might stick around to see this one…

See you on the court!
