MONTVALE, NJ: A Thrilling Week Four – Competitive Contests or Bad Basketball?
Take a look at your poll numbers boys...Not great.
So, what happened Wednesday night? All three games were decided by fewer than 10 points, and two came down to the final seconds. Is that really a good thing?
Ferrall Ballerz had no business losing to Team Randy. They didn’t lose, but had Brian Perez not hit a huge three-pointer with time running out, they likely would have. Is it a good win considering they blew a double-digit lead in the second half after looking like they would cruise? Team Randy hasn’t even won a game yet. A low-scoring 43-40 escape is hardly something to celebrate. Watch Ferrall Ballerz's Rob Cohan attempt to explain more of the game's craziness.
RUNt beat Just the Tip 63-62. This could have gone either way. That’s not good considering the two teams entered action a combined 1-4. For one to be taken seriously, they should have blown out the other. RUNt needed some late fireworks from Derryn Bronstein and Vinnie Graff to escape disaster.
Perhaps Old School played the best game? They won by eight, 49-41, and their competition was arguably better in Team Justin. However, they trailed at halftime and only managed 20 points in the first 22 minutes. Well, defense does win games. But…Old School allowed Justin to shoot over 50%. Even so, do they get the nod for being the most impressive? Or was it simply a mediocre performance good enough to beat a mediocre team?
This brings it all back to last week. Guess who didn’t play Wednesday- Young Gelt Militia. They don’t even take the floor and still manage to make everyone else look inferior! Oh boy.
