MANSFIELD, TX: The SQUAD suffers setbacks

The SQUAD after the loss to Redeem Team

They are the newest addition to the Mansfield Spring league and the topic of many of the league discussions within the past few weeks. The SQUAD, who seemed to start off pretty strong as a unit, has had a couple of major changes to their roster that could negatively effect their future as a primetime contender amongst the others.

For one, the team unfortunately took a blow when fellow teammate Chris Owens, Jr. lost his cool with the referee towards the end of a very exciting and close game against the Veterans as he filled in for a Redeem Team player and is no longer allowed to compete. Owens was known as a main scorer, facilitator and voice for The SQUAD and was definitely a key to the team's success for this season. Team founder Marcus Scruggs responded by saying, "It's a major blow to the team, but we have to press on".

More recently, 3-point marksman Nathan Harris decided to join the Veterans after the 2nd game, in which he felt this would be a better fit for him, with no hard feelings for his now former teammates. The feeling looked to be mutual amongst both franchises.

Both losses were felt as they faced Redeem Team in week 3, and they also had to play without another talented scorer Lovell Bradford who had to miss the game due to work. Even with the addition of 2 new players, Redeem Team toppled The SQUAD 86-69 as they now sit at 1-2 for the season.

Scruggs says "NO WORRIES!" as we approach week 4, as there are many more games left in the schedule. With all of the talk amongst other teams and onlookers, will they be able to prove themselves? Drop your comments below!
