SHELBY VET: Bulls and Pistons Dominate | Lakers Survive After Losing 20 Point Lead In Second Half

It was easy day for the Bulls and Pistons as they cruise by easily against their opponents. Bulls faced off with Hawks, Evan Wilson led the way with 22 points, while Mike Mckee put in 14 points and 10 rebounds. Marcus Anderson continues to impress, and become a solid player this league, with 12 points, and 4 blocks. He is already up to 12 blocks so far this season in 3 games. Shane de’ Nooijer led Hawks, with 23 points, and that was really the only good thing for the Hawks. Unable to stop Bulls transition offense, not getting back on defense quick enough.

Pistons made quick work with Old School Crusaders. The Crusaders, didn't have an answer for the Pistons all game. Bill Treece, led the Pistons with 19 points, shooting 5-6 from the three. Nicco Genova’s 9 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals also shouldn’t go noticed as he was able to find the right guys offensively. Bill Tull also had a solid day 17 points and 5 rebounds. Crusaders, are sinking fast, and need to find a way to get a win. They lost a tough one in the first week, but ever since then, just have been dominated by the teams in the Veterans league.

Our final game of the evening happened to be a thriller towards the end. Lakers played against Thunder, and Lakers pretty much had Thunder in check all game. Anthony Muscat had 20 points, and 7 assists. Cory Hansen, was solid defensively. With 15 points, 6 boards, and a pair of steals and blocks. Lakers though almost lost this one, leading Thunder was DeAndre Cottrell and Shawn Graham who had a combine 50 points. Down by 20 in the second half, Thunder were able to get the deficit to thirteen with over a minute and twenty seconds left in the game. Thunder fouled and forced Lakers in to a one in one situation, but couldn’t hit their free throws, as James Perry hit couple threes down the stretch, and Jason Pitts with a steal on the inbound pass for a layup, cut Lakers lead to just two points. Todd Lueck was fouled, on the inbound pass after Thunder scored, he hit both free throws, to get the lead back to four. On the following possession, Thunder turned the ball over, and that was game. Lakers survive, almost handing the game right to the Thunder.
