WESTMINSTER, CO: Week 2 Preview | Trying to find a rhythm
Havoc looks for their first W
The start of the fall season wasn't quite what everyone expected in Westminster. The long layoff between the end of the summer season and the start of the fall created a lot of rust for most teams. Who was able to shake off the rust and who's still trying to find their way?
FireSquad vs. White Iversons
After a tough loss in week one, FireSquad is heading off against White Iversons who are fresh off of an impressive first week win. FireSquad is a young squad but with a lot of talent but veteran leadership is sometimes missing in crucial times in the game. White Iversons like to push the ball and score points from either the outside or in direct line drives to the basket. This will be an up and down game with lots of points to be scored. Neither team really prides themselves on defense, but rather relies on their offense to win games. This is going to be a very exciting matchup to kick off the night and it really is a tossup who is the favorite.
The Kardashians vs. The Bad Boys
The Bad Boys were regarded as one of the potential top teams heading into the season, but were less than stellar in their week one loss. They are a new team and there is sure to be a learning curve to get over and with time their chemistry should get better and better. The Kardashians didn’t shoot well in week one but were still able to get the victory on the shoulders of Chris Morgan’s 29 points. The Bad Boys will have the height advantage in any game this season and they will need to use it in order to be successful this season. The Kardashians rely on ball movement and knocking down their shots, so it will be a game of clashing styles as these two teams go at it.
The Gladiators vs. Eat, Sleep, Ball, Repeat
Again, here is another close matchup on paper. The Gladiators at 1-1 are facing a new but impressive team in ESBR. The Gladiators love to push the pace and get easy buckets in transition while ESBR plays slightly slower and methodically. The Gladiators rely on the hot shooting hand of Saul Chavira, and if he is on, there is no game they can’t win. ESBR has a team of unselfish players and their ball movement and early chemistry could prove to be a real advantage for them each week. This should be another close game and could come down to a breakout player emerging in week 2.
IMPACT Basketball vs. The Tropics
The Tropics are making their Ultimate Hoops debut against arguably the best team in the league. IMPACT Basketball got their week one win and are looking to aim for another dominating season. We aren’t sure just who exactly is on the Tropics, but whoever it is, they will certainly have their work cut out for them against a team like IMPACT Basketball.
Havoc vs. Purple Cobras
Havoc is another new team to Ultimate Hoops and their offseason rust showed in week one. Cardio played a key factor in their week one loss as they were close in the first half, only to crumble after halftime. The Purple Cobras are very similar to Havoc in that they are also a young team and were on the opposite end of a beat down last week. This game is important for both teams as no one wants to start the season 0-2. Expect both teams to play better than they did last week and for both teams to really fight to get the victory this week.
The Kardashians vs. FireSquad
In the last game of the night, both these teams will be playing their second game. This will be a true test of conditioning as it could play a huge role in which team will have the advantage. Richard Peterson of FireSquad is the teams go to player and The Kardashians will need to neutralize him if they want to get the win. Marquise Scott of the Kardashians will have the distinct advantage in the paint so look for the Kardashians to feed him the ball early and often. There is not a single player in the league that can guard Marquise one on one in the paint, so FireSquad will need a complete team effort on defense to stifle the Kardashian’s attack.
