SHELBY REC: They Came, They Saw, They Conquered. YLie Wins Championship
Rob Turner and Tyrone Jordan
YLie came out the gates running, with their mind set on that ultimate prize. Ylie hasn’t won the championship since spring of 2013. Summer and fall, they fell to Performance Fiber Glass, and just came up short. Last Season they fell to House of Skillz as they watch Magnolia’s Finest go undefeated and hoist the trophy. With the return of Drew Maynard this season, from week one, they had their eyes set on winning every game, and claiming what is rightfully theirs. Ylie and Infantry both coming off overtime wins in the second round of the playoffs. It was all Ylie in this one though. Drew Maynard led the way with 23 points and 10 boards. Tyrone Jordan also a great performance, 8 assists, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. The Infantry struggled shooting tonight, only shooting .41 percent from the field. It didn’t look so good at all, as they shot 35 attempts from the three and only making 11. It was a rough night for Infantry but should keep their heads up. They were the sixth seed, and was doubted by many that they couldn’t reach the final game. They did accomplish that, and had a very good season. They came across a team that was hungrier. A team that wouldn’t stop for anything less than winning a championship.
