SYOSSET, NY: The Fast Break With Jake Asman | Bring On The Summer League

Welcome to The Fast Break, where Jake Asman shares his thoughts on the latest news, rumors, and notes involving Ultimate Hoops Syosset.

Summer’s Here: The 2015 summer season is upon us. The most competitive season of the year tips off on Tuesday, July 7th as the Hooligans will try to defend their championship in the summer after defeating UnStuck in the spring league final.

New Summer, More Teams: For the first time in the history of Ultimate Hoops Syosset, there will be 13 teams competing in the summer league. An increase of 3 teams from last summer.

Proper Punishment No More: After 8 seasons in the league, Proper Punishment has changed its name to Respect The Game. Respect The Game, will be led by Ken Koerner and Brandon Dominick, who have combined to win 6 championships over their careers.

Garrett’s Gone: After playing and winning two championships with UnStuck, Garrett Johnson left the team as a free agent this offseason to sign with Premature Shooters, an expansion team. Johnson will face his old team right away as UnStuck and Premature Shooters open the season against each other at 9:30 this Tuesday.

Is Born Ready, Ready: Back for their second season this summer with a revamped roster, Born Ready looks to improve on a disappointing ending to their season last summer. After starting 4-0, Born Ready lost their next 6 games, including a quarterfinals loss to the future summer league champions, Team Pipe. Born Ready takes on Respect The Game at 8:30 in their season opener.

They Said It: “I believe we are going in as an underdog but right now we are undefeated and tied for first place. Go Starz!” – Harry Schoenhaut of the Starz on his team being in first place in the summer league.

Media Changer: For the first time in Ultimate Hoops history, LIVE audio broadcasting of the league will be on full display. Stay tuned to the UH website for more information on what games will be broadcasted every week. The audio will be made available after the game on tape delay for anyone that wants to go back and listen or could not catch the action live.
