DUNKS: Chase Skinkis is a basketball god. Watch his epic finish in UH Vegas on Monday Night

Is it any surprise that Chase Skinkis gave us another memorable Ultimate Hoops finish?

It had already been a great game. Mix N Match, wearing the sickest custom made jerseys ever, started out red hot and looked like they would run away with the game. But the Big Boys battled back. And it was all notched up 38-38 at the half.

The second half was much of the same. Mix N Match had the lead but couldn’t hold onto it. Big shots by the Big Boys kept them within striking distance. And after hanging around for 40 + minutes, it appeared that the Big Boys were poised to steal the game.

UNDER A MINUTE TO GO...

More like 35 seconds or so. The Big Boys have an 80-79 lead and are at the free throw line. The shooter (Adam Lapidus I think but could have been Darrel Jordan or EJ Little) attempts the shot and it comes off.

Disaster strikes for Mix N Match as they let Mike Smiljanic, the only Big Boys player in the lane, grab the offensive rebound and keep the possession alive for the Big Boys. But as Smiljanic dribbles around, he ends up on the sideline near his bench and most of his teammates are still at the other end of the floor. The Mix N Match guys swarm towards Smiljanic. No timeout called and nowhere to go with the ball. The ball is knocked out of bounds. And awarded to…….Mix N Match.

THE REFS BLEW THAT ONE

In a game that was very well officiated throughout, the refs got it wrong on this play. Smiljanic was trapped in a bad spot on the floor. But he was definitely fouled on the double team. Both refs were in kind of tough positions to clearly see what was happening. Maybe they just missed it. But when the ball went out of bounds, if they weren’t going to call a foul on Mix N Match, they should have at least given the possession back to the Big Boys.

But, as all of us have experienced, that’s basketball. And there was still a game to be played and around 30 seconds left.

And the Big Boys still had the 80-79 lead.

HOLD FOR ONE SHOT

Mix N Match got the ball to Chase Skinkis near half court. Chase was in no hurry and it looked like he was going to take his chances with one final shot.

But as Chase went to make his move to the hoop, he lost the ball. He nearly lost it completely and the ball was on the ground. Chase was able to maintain possession and Mix N Match called their final timeout with 3.6 seconds to go. Time to draw up one last play.

And the rest is history...

It was a great play drawn up by Mix N Match and it was executed to perfection by the passer, Mark Trevino, and finisher, Super Chase.

Richard Pawlasek captured the game winner on his phone and Stefan Hanania of Back in the Day is the ecstatic color commentator.

When the play happened, it nearly blew the roof off the place. It was unlike anything I had ever seen in Ultimate Hoops. As you can see in the video, it’s pandemonium. Almost every player from each team is on the floor, unsure if the game was over or what had happened.

The Big Boys used their final timeout with 3.1 seconds to go. But it wasn’t very helpful as they turned the ball over immediately on the inbound.

Mix N Match pulled out an 82-80 win. And Super Chase continues to add to his Ultimate Hoops legacy. But let’s not sell Trevino short. That was one perfect pass. Well done, gentlemen.
